NEWS 2004-2005

OUR BANQUET WAS GREAT FUN!  CHECK OUT OUR SLIDE SHOW of all the fun activities we did this year!!

Our Bake Sale netted over $60 for our trip to the science museum in Augusta!  Thanks to all our bakers!

Thanks to everyone that made our first Thanksgiving Lunch a success!  We had so much food, and it was all delicious!

Our Trick-or-Treat for Second Harvest Food Bank netted over $120.  THANK YOU!

The AASU Chapter of the Student Affiliates has received a Commendable Award from the American Chemical Society.  This represents an improvement over the previous year when we received Honorable Mention.  We are on the road back to OUTSTANDING by the hard work of our great officers and members!  For 2004-2005 we will be outstanding!

AASU DAY was a great success.  Our bananas and candy apples sold very well and we made over $150.   Our Fruit/Health Theme was a hit.  See the Pictures here

One of our officers, Marquit'a Bullock (Treasurer) has been chosen by the ACS Scholars Program to receive a scholarship for the 2004-2005 school year.  Marquit'a transferred to Armstrong from Mercer University in January 2003 and is pursuing an ACS certified degree in chemistry.  She is pursuing a summer internship at the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography with Dr. Stuart Wakeham, on lipid analysis from water sample from the Black Sea.  Marquit'a has also serves the department of Chemistry as a laboratory assistant and is a member and officer of Delta Sigma Theta, Tau Alpha Chapter.  Marquit'a is a member of the ACS Student Affiliates and of National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists & Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE).  Marquit'a is planning on attending graduate school and pursuing her interests in forensic chemistry!
