BACKGROUND:

Former high school chemistry and physics teacher. Did graduate chemistry research on Raman spectroscopy using lasers and fiber optic probes. Teaches general chemistry courses to chemistry majors, chemistry for nurses, graduate science education and chemistry courses for teachers. Graduate advisor to students in the Masters in Secondary Science program. Research interests are chemical education, and K-12 science teacher preparation in chemistry and the physical sciences. Involved in chemistry outreach to several local schools. Serves as a consultant to Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, and designs and teaches graduate summer courses, as well as monthly staff development workshops to upgrade K-12 science teacher education through their funding. Member of Southeast Georgia’s P-16 Committee, American Chemical Society, and National Association for Research in Science Teaching. Involved in numerous successful grants for infusion of technology in teaching, as well as grants for K-12 science teacher enhancement in chemistry and the physical sciences. Has given presentations at various national as well as international conferences.
